My mother’s memory care took the residents for an outing and I decided to join them. I went online to purchase my ticket and got distracted at work. 15 minutes later, I went back online and the price increased?

The polar ice exhibit is for kids, which is wonderful! However, the prices are paid by adults, which is not. Why does a company that’s making billions have to charge working families so much to enjoy this event, including $15 for parking and $1.99 convenience fee if you scan your ticket instead of swipe your card at the exit? The least you guys could do is reduce the price and offer some free hot cocoa after walking through 9° degrees of beautiful ice sculptures. That would make it family friendly AND wallet friendly. Peace and love

This actually the smallest of the Gaylords but it is huge. It is close to the airport, quite far from the Rockies but it is sited to provide a nice Rockies view. It is clearly focused on conventions, but there is plenty for families to do. The indoor and outdoor pool areas are very nice, and there are a number of other outdoor activities. The rooms are fine. The restaurant situation desperately needs attention. There are a number of them, but at least at two of them the menus were strange and they were hard to get in. At the Copper Table, we were told there was a 45 minute wait though the restaurant was half empty. Presumably it is a staffing issue. The ICE show was fabulous, worth a visit. Probably it is great for conventions.

The Gaylord is really fun place to go! However there are a few things that could be improved. It already is really expensive and everything cost money! When you are staying at the hotel, there should not be paid parking. Somehow we had to pay twice for parking!!! I understand paid parking for the day pass, but when you stay in the hotel… also there is no way to tell how busy it will be. You pay for a time to go to the ice slides however if there are a lot of people the wait is 30-40 minutes in 9 degree temps. We could only go down the ice slides once after paying a little of money to enjoy it!! There is no point signing up for a time slot because they let everyone in no matter their time! So the people who go in will always have to wait in a 30-45 minute wait each time to go down the slide. That is ridiculous!!! The first time I went there wasn’t a lot of people and we could go again and again down the ice slides. If they actually staggered the time, that might help.

Great place to stay near the base of the Rocky Mountains. Our family enjoyed the amenities, although we did not have time for the pool area.

Positives- lots of areas to explore weather permitting, lounge areas are comfortable. Staff was courteous.

Negatives- did not seem to be many perks for Elite members, or concierge lounge.
Our room was not ready by 4pm check in, does not appear to be a mobile valet request.
Several of the restaurants were not open throughout our visit
Overall a beautifully groomed property with a serene rocky mountain backdrop. Very well put together as expected from a Gaylord Palm.

There are many positives and many negatives. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful and easy to enjoy. There’s basically something for everyone. The restaurants, are an enigma. While the food in mountain pass is excellent, I even ate there three times. However, the service in all of the bars and restaurants seems to be the same. No staff member knows how to smile and they rarely are there to serve you. Most importantly, in the bars, nearly every bartender said they didn’t know how to recommend a beer because they were not beer drinkers or didn’t know the beers. Pitiful.

We went to the Polar Express ice event. It was nice and we had a good time. It was worth the time and money. Our children had a blast. We have a lot of positive memories from this event and opportunity. My wife slid down the icy slope and our children did the kiddie one. I was good. The resort is beautifully designed. We have to get a room next year, maybe tax refund season.

2.5 stars. Such a beautiful hotel and space to explore and spend Christmas, too bad it isn’t perfect in many ways, matter of fact it is kind of lousy at times. I’d say that 50% of the people we encountered were five star, solid and what I absolutely expect from the Gaylord, but the other 50% were one star and the feeling of “I don’t care” really shined in those encounters. Not at all what a five star hotel of this pedigree should be putting on display at the holidays.

Being greeted properly with helpful and friendly service should be top priority at the Gaylord, but in 2024 - not so much. Our first interaction was with excellent and super friendly staff inside the Village and right outside of Ice. Inside of Ice I’d say it was different. The sculpture artist wasn’t friendly at all and the slide attendants, be it top or bottom, didn’t have one smile amongst The group of five, and well not friendly at all either. The worst was the guy at the photo pickup. No sale.

That’s the real story here, first it’s great service then a second later it’s gone, then repeat. Staff at the two beverage stands were friendly and helpful, especially the bar staff who were talkative and interested in being professional and fun.

The door for Cirque Frost was friendly at first but then rude when no one led us to our seats and we just wandered off.

Staff in the lodge were all great and everyone we encountered couldn’t have been more friendly, but lost again by the Spa staff who was curt and phony. The marketplace was the same and after self-checkout after self-checkout did not work or have an error message we put everything back and left because there was no one around to help. Not many staff seem to have the guests as the prime concern, be them hotel or event guests.

We encountered our worst experience at Mountain Pass.

After several of the clueless hosts allowed person after person to interrupt the line we were noticed by a very helpful girl who took care of us and was apologetic. After sitting we waited quite awhile to be greeted and it was very to the point - like hurry up. We saw our server three times: order & drinks, 2-minute check back, check. We waited 24 minutes for a burger and a piece of fish. No one came by our table for almost a 1/2 an hour.

When it arrived the fish was overcooked and dry and clearly sat in a window dying while the cooks took the opportunity to dry out the burger. The idea of “some pink” and “no pink” apparently means raw or well done here. Neither is true. It’s medium and over medium - that’s traditional. Either way, the burger was somehow dry and still pink.

A man stopped by and asked how everything was and I said it wasn’t great and I explained that the food was cooked poorly across the board, I showed him and he agreed. His response ultimately was that he’d relay the message to the kitchen which will help them improve. No one else stopped by. One star service. One star management.

We decided after taking the kids around for the scavenger hunt, and some drinks for us that we were very glad we did not book a room this year along with the events. Disappointing on many levels, merely saved by the exceptional space and artistry of the resort. Might be our last visit here after this year, certainly not sure I want to be mistreated at Christmas again.

Bottom line: This resort completely failed to live up to its name and class this time around.

Ice: Great, as expected; overpriced.
Cirque Frost: Excellent.
Gaylord: Let down.
Parking: Severely overpriced.
Service: Mediocre and not up to par
Food: Fair to poor
